How IB & AP Programs Work

International Baccalaureate (IB)

  • Students study multiple subjects at Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL)
  • Includes core components:
    • Extended Essay (EE)
    • Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
    • CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service)
  • Assessment includes coursework + final exams
  • Students are evaluated throughout the program, not just at the end

Advanced Placement (AP)

  • Students take individual subject courses based on interest (e.g., AP Biology, AP Calculus, AP English)
  • Each course ends with a standardized exam (scored 1–5)
  • Strong focus on final exam performance
  • Often used for university credit or advanced placement
